Brum BiFest: AccessibilityOur Ethos on AccessThe Brum BiFest team are an imaginative group of people - we will do our best to meet any access needs that we can anticipate or that people let us know about (the more in advance the more we can do). Where we cannot provide answers or solutions we will be honest and upfront. If you have any concerns or questions about any access issues please do not hesitate to email us on access@brum.bifest.org or leave us a voicemail on 0121 314 4839 and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible. Our VenueThe Warehouse @ ABplus has a small step on entry to the building. We have some ramps we can use on this, or there is an alternative wheelchair accessible route into the building which we can access on request. We are advised that the internal parts of the building have just been refurbished to make them DDA compliant with widened doors and level access throughout. However we are aware that legal compliance is not the same as easy access. As the Warehouse is an open plan room we anticipate that there may be some noise issues and that it may not be the easiest venue from from a noise reduction perspective. We are investigating the option of some small quiet spaces for people to use. You can see a photograph of the main space we will be using on ABplus's website. We will do our best to get photographs of our own during the site visit. Printed MaterialsWe are likely to give out information to attenders in a well designed and typeset simple A5 sized booklet which will be written in a sans serif font. We will have a couple of large print copies on A4 available on request at the registration desk. Information and fun stuff will also be provided in large print of 14-18pt throughout the venue in a similarly well typeset style. If you have any print needs you would like us to meet, e.g specific colour of paper, please let us know at least a week before Brum BiFest (by 14th Nov 2009) so we can obtain the paper and ensure appropriate documents are printed for you. We can also provide electronic copies of texts when available - let us know which format you'd like. Car ParkingThe nearest parking is pay and display about 20m down the street from the front entrance to ABplus on the opposite side of the road. This is free for blue badge holders. For non blue badge holder this is £2.50 but only for a max of 4 hours. For more information about parking see Getting To BiFest's car section. |
