Brum BiFest Volunteering

Brum BiFest will not be possible without volunteers to help make the day a success. The organising team are all volunteers and will appreciate any help and support that people can give.

Volunteering on the day:
You will be able to volunteer on the day as the organisers will call out for help as it is needed.

Volunteering in advance:
We welcome emails to info@brum.bifest.org from anyone who can help with set-up, takedown or tasks which need some planning.

Why should I volunteer at Brum BiFest?

As this is the first BiFest in the West Midlands, everyone is a "first timer" and we welcome offers of time and skills from anyone who plans to come, or turns up to Brum BiFest.

Volunteering is one of the best ways to meet new people without the social awkwardness of wondering what to say.

What can I volunteer to do at Brum BiFest?

  • Helping set up the venue (Fri 20th evening, or Sat 21st morning)
  • Staffing the registration desk
  • Moving furniture (tables, chairs and room dividers)
  • First Aid
  • Food
  • Clearing up venue (Sat 21st evening from 19:30 to hopefully not much after 20:30)

If you'd like more information about what is involved with some of the volunteering tasks, have a look at our volunteering in detail page.

Who can volunteer at BiFest?

We would like everyone who attends BiFest to have the opportunity to volunteer to do something.

Many tasks do not require volunteers to be physically strong or have experience we can usually find something you can do - just let us know. Some examples of mixing and matching might be:

  • A hard of hearing volunteer can be put on the reception desk with a hearing person who can handle phonecalls.
  • Someone who doesn't like money could welcome people and wander round ensuring people are okay.

The volunteering in detail page has more information about what skills and abilities are needed.
